Clean Up Your Credit Report - 4 Top Tips
You want to clean up your credit report? Hey, my name’s Justin and I want to share a few things I learned about cleaning up your credit report.
I’ve got some great tips to help you clean up your credit report as I’ve been there myself.
I had what you might say a disgusting credit report. I’m the first one to admit I got into some bad habit and had to truly fight my way out. But, I came out the other side and you can too. If I can do it in the state I was in then you can too - with these tips…
The first thing you can do is get your credit report and then methodically go through each step to clean your report:
1. Get your credit report
Go here to get your report, it includes all 3 of the top agencies in America, see you need to get all three as each on will be different.
2. Look for errors
Do you know that 90% of Credit Reports have errors? That’s right, if it’s not a credit report error it will be an error with your personal details, make sure the address are correct and you have all three reports looking consistent - you will need to contact each report and get them to amend any errors.
3. Don’t close your accounts down
It seems very counter intuitive but it’s actually true. See if you close your accounts down and try an consolidate your loans then you will effectively end any credit history you had with those account. 35% of what your score is made up of is past credit history, so it’s gold as far as clean up your report.
4. Keep your loan to credit ratio small
It seems counter intuitive also but it makes sense when you think about it. You need to make sure there’s no a huge difference between how much credit you have access to and how much you have paid off. If you owe to much then your creditors think that you are less likely to pay them off as it looks as though your up to your eyeballs in debt.
I hope these tips help - they certainly did for me.
Remember to stick to a solid plan of cleaning up your report and don’t stray, the hardest thing I found was getting motivated enough to pay back the loans - it was just so hard to go with out for a period of time, but you have not option.
