Credit Check Agency - Make Sure You Don’t Get Scammed

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

There is an ever incrfeasing amount of ways to get caught out on the net these days.

It’s unpoliced and as soon as the police shut one site down another one rears it’s ugly head.

Credit Check Agencies are big business. There are three main ones in America and they all attract some undesirable business practices. One of these services is aimed at people who need to fix their bad credit report.

They typically offer the following promises.

  • “Credit problems? Yeah No problem!”
  • “We can totally erase your bad credit — 100% guaranteed.”
  • “Create a new credit identity — legally.” (yeah right)
  • “We remove bankruptcies, judgments, and bad loans from your credit file forever!”

If you see these claims then avoid them like the plague. There are all untrue statement and will get you in so much trouble.

Even for companies that don’t make these wild claims then you need to ask these type of services some simple questions, getting their responses will then determine if they are legitimate.

1. Do they try and charge you for service that have not been carried out?
Never pay upfront for service that have not been completed.

2. Try and charge you upfront account creation fees
Like the point above this is also a clear warning sign, they might even say you will receive training books and documentation so that is why they are charging, so no, and run for the door!

3. Avoid the 3 day Cooling Off Period
If they try and perform services until they have your actual signature on a written contract and have also completed a three-day waiting period. See in this 3 day period you have the right to cancel the contract without paying any fees

4. Get You To Create Another Identity
This is a big warning, you cannot create another “clean” identity - this can lead to criminal prosecution for your and the credit rating fixing company.

You need to Also ask the following Questions:

1. Address
Check what their address is, some websites will not have address details of a physical office, this is a clear warning sign.

2. Guarantee
What do they actually promise. Ask them and get them to define each promise so you can match it to the tasks completed after the project. They should not be able to increase your score by a set amount, nothing in the credit score fixing business can be guarantees.

I hope these tips help you to be careful about companies that promise to fix your credit report. The best way to fix your credit report is the legitimate way, read other articles on this site to get all the tips and tricks you need.

Agency Credit Report - Know The Risks

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

Getting Your Agency Credit Report - There are many risks out there in the land of credit reports that you need to know about before you go off and get your report.

Selling Credit Reports is big business worth billions annually, there is a lot to gain for scammers and ripoff merchants, they lurk on the web and often snag people looking for their credit reports, if your not careful and don’t know the risks then you could be next.

There are a multiple of ways you could get caught so it’s smart to look at the poossible risks and know what you might be exposed to on the web.

The Main Credit Report Agency Scams.

1. Stick to the Main 3 Credit Report Agencies
There are 3 main credit report agencies in America, called Experian, Equfax and TransUnion. They are regulated by the federal government, I’m not saying they are totally clean businesses as they have been sued in the past but they are the most reliable places to go - and have the most accurate data.

2. Imposter Websites
Fruadsters have created websites that look legitimate but are actually anything but,  they will create  sites that are slightly misspelled for the main agencies mentioned above. They will build a website that looks legitimate but is just a front to get you and and get your credit card details. Be sure to have a look at the front of the website address - a secure legitimate website will have https:// not http:// this will prove that the site is secure and not a fraud.

3. Trangulation
This tactic is not as well know and is currently catching our a lot of people. It works by you going to a website and requesting a credit report. The fraudster behind the website will then go off and purchase your credit report from a legitimate place, but they will use stolen credit card details. They will then send you an email requesting you pay them and send through your credit card details via an email for. As a general rule don’t ever pass your credit card details via an email. It’s a clear sign that you are being scammed.

I hope these three tips have been helpful and that you are cautious when looking for your Agency Credit Report.

Have You Got Bad Credit Reports? Best Ways Fix

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

Ok, so you’ve got some bad credit reports, and need to kix them quick smart.

I can empathize with you, my name’s Justin and I know all about having a bad credit report. I was there and know only too well what it was like, but I got myself out of the financial hell I was in.

Let me show you how.

Having a bad credit report can cost you big time, it’s hard to get a loan for one, but even when you obtain a loan it will be financial suicide.

See when you have a bad report the creditors will not trust you too much and will therefore protect there investment in you by charging you extra. It makes sense, you will get penalized because you are a risky customer.

They will only agree to giving you a loan for credit if you agree to go on a high interest rate loan. It may only seem like a few hundred dollars extra a month but spread over a few years will add up to thousands. So you need to do everything you can to reduce your credit interest rate, you can only do this by having a great credit score adn clean looking credit report.

Ok, what do I do you ask? well you need to follow our the following recommendation, this is what I did and my report and score improved drastically, I increased my credit score by a  few hundred points.

Top Tips for Bad Credit Reports:

1. Don’t consolidate your loan
I know it seems counter intuitive but it’s true, consolidating your loans is a sure fire way to damage your credit score. You see you need to have records on your credit report of CURRENT credit accounts, like credit cards and other loans. As these act like report cards on your payment history. A Payment history record is the number one most important piece of information on your credit report. So keep them open and try and negotiate to pay them off - see if you can better your terms or reduce your interest rate but don’t close the account, or you will close off your chances of improving your credit score.

2.  Imporve your Loan to Credit Ratio
This is another smart tactic to improve your credit report. See when you have a have a high percentage of available credit to the balance of your loan then you are in trouble. You need to close the gap. If you have around three accounts with a small loan to credit ratio then this puts you in good stead. See if you have a lot of available credit then lenders will get nervous that you owe so much money and will not be able to service the loan - this is a risk that will damage your credit score.

I hope these tow tips are helpful for you. They will certainly help your credit score and get you back into the land of the living.

Don’t forget that your credit report and credit score are the most important assets you have, if you damage them then it’s not the end of the world for you but it comes close. It’s nearly impossible to get a home loan, car loan and credit cards, we live in a world of lending and debt - if you can’t get access to finance you are going to struggle.

How to Get a Free Credit Report

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

Knowing how to get a free credit report will obviously save you a ton of cash, but is a free credit report the best option for you?

In most cases, it probably will be - after all it’s free right? What could possibly be the downside?

In fact it is law that you are able to get a free credit report from the three main consumer reporting companies in the USA - Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. If you simply ask these companies they are obliged to send you your credit report free of charge once poer year.

There are even services which enable you to get the reports combined into one so you have a single easy point of reference for your credit standing.

Once you have the report in your hands, you can then decide how to use it.

Now if you are happy with your report and can’t see any mistakes or areas for improvement, then congratulation - you’re doing well.

On the other hand if there are any mistakes or misleading items on your credit report, then it could really beenfit you to take action to have those items fixed. If you are unsure if the items on your credit report have either a positive or negative effect on your credit standing then it might also be an idea to get some advice from a professional credit repair agency as such companies will know exactly what items can be disputed and how far you can push the envelope.

Once you have analysed your free credit report, then the next step is to start the process of lobbying the consumer reporting agency resposible to change the items that you are not happy with. Again a professional credit repair company may be of some assistance if you are unsure how to proceed or if you want the absolute top chance of a positive outcome.

The consumer reporting agency that you contact is legally obliged to investigate your claims and make any ammendments to your credit report that they deem fair.

You can then either pay for another credit report or you can wait to the following year to see how your efforts are reflected in your personal credit history.

Once again, though, if you employ the services of a professional credit repair agency, they will usually be able to give you ongoing updates on the status of your credit report. This can be great peace of mind and well with the cost.

Get Your Credit Report

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

To get your credit report, you really don’t need too much time or money and the benefits of having your report can be big.

In fact, by law the main consumer reporting companies are required to provide consumers with a free credit report every year, if the consumer asks for it. All you need to do is get in contact with the companies and put in a request.

The three companies you are going to want to conact are Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion and you can even get a combined report.

But should you get a combined report or should you spread your credit report requests out over a 12 month period?

Well if it’s just curiosity that is leading you to get a credit report, then you should probably just get the combined report and be done with it. It will show you your credit standing with an itemised list of your credit items from each of the three consumer reporting companies.

Of course, if you are in the process of trying to improve your credit rating then you may like to consider requesting only one report from one of the consumer reporting companies to get an idea of where you stand in the eyes of lenders.

Armed with that basic information from the one agency, you can go about taking steps to improve your credit score, before ordering another report a few months later.

This will be able to show you whether or not your efforts have resulted in actual improvements to your credit standing.

Now, the downside of this method is that each of the consumer reporting companies uses different and independent sources of information to compile your credit report.

Just because you have improved your credit standing with one consumer reporting agency, does not mean that your credit score has improved with the others.

There are services which can take the headache out of this entire process and help to give you the best chance of improving your credit with all of the agencies.

After they have taken steps to improve your credit score, you will be able to get your credit report from them to view those improvements.

While you can manage the entire process yourself without employing anybody’s help, often professional services are able to get better results due to the fact that they know what to look for in credit reports that can be improved and they know the best steps to take to ensure that the items on your credit report have the best chance of being shown in a favorable light.

In the end it’s your decision, but remember - when you get your credit report, your options are very open on how to improve it.
